Mølstertunet farm cluster
Experience old Voss
The farm has probably stood here since before the Viking Age. In 1521, Mølster consisted of two farms. The buildings belonging to these farms stand in a rekkjetun, a cluster of farm buildings that were common in the communities in and around Voss. Each farm had its own dwelling house, smokehouse, loft, storage shed, barn, and firewood shed. One of the farms also had a kårstove, where the older generation could live once their heirs had taken over the farm.
As many as 30 people have lived here at one time. The two families moved out in 1926 and 1927, ten years after the founding of Voss Folk Museum. The museum opened its doors in 1928.
